How screen-aware AI assistants turn pixels into useful context
A screen-aware assistant works from an image you provide; it does not automatically understand every application or the hidden state behind the pixels.

A screenshot is an input, not complete application access
A captured screen or region becomes an image attached to a request. A vision-capable model can reason about visible text, layout and relationships, but it cannot reliably infer data that is hidden, cropped out or available only inside the application's internal state.
This distinction matters. A model can describe a visible error dialog, but it does not automatically know the server logs or configuration that caused the error.
Selection improves relevance
Full-screen images often contain unrelated windows, notifications and small text. Selecting the relevant region gives the model a clearer signal and makes the answer easier to audit.
Include the question with the image. “What changed between these two series?” is more useful than asking the model to guess what you care about.
Visible details can still be sensitive
Screens can contain names, addresses, customer records, credentials or internal conversations. Close unrelated windows and remove secrets before capture. Share only data you are authorized to process.
In Cernalo, capture starts when the user starts it. The selected image is sent through the Cernalo API to the configured provider needed for the request.
Screen sharing and model input are different controls
An operating-system setting that excludes an overlay from some recordings does not prevent a screenshot you deliberately submit from reaching the AI provider. It also does not guarantee invisibility across every recording or conferencing tool.
Treat capture protection as a convenience with platform limits, not as a security boundary or a reason to ignore meeting rules.
Verify visual answers
Vision models can misread small text, merge labels or infer a trend that the scale does not support. Check units, axes, selected dates and source data before acting on a visual interpretation.
